Anderson, Ind. – The Berea College Mountaineers captured the women’s title on Saturday in the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Berea claimed the championship with a dominating team performance and total score of 149. The championship victory marks Berea's first indoor track and field title in Division III and their first ever HCAC team Championship in any sport, as this year is the first in the league. Finishing in second place in the women's compeition was Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, whose team tallied 139 points. Manchester took third place with 120 points, while Hanover took fourth with 82 points. Transylvania tallied 76.50 points and a fifth place finish, with Mount St. Joseph University (35.50 points), Earlham College (23 points), and Bluffton University (19.50 points) taking 6th, 7th, and 8th places respectively. Anderson University finished in ninth place with 11 points and Franklin College rounded out the field with 6.50 points.

Each athlete and relay team that finished their respective events in First Place is named to the First Team HCAC All-Conference; Second Place finishers are named to the Second Team HCAC All-Conference; and Third Place finishers are named to the Honorable Mention HCAC All-Conference Teams.

The day on the track got started on the track in the 5000 meter, with
Callie Swegman from Hanover finishing with a time of 18:29.07 for the win.
In the Distance Medley Relay, it was the team from Hanover who took first, with
Elyse Wilson, Lily Smith, Izzy Moklozek, and
Emma Litzelman teaming up for a time of 13:29.75.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Rose-Hulman's
Narindwa Semakula picked up a win with a time of 9.27 seconds.
Berea College's
Kymiah Blair captured the gold medal in the 60 meter dash, with a time of 7.94.
Rose-Hulman won the 4x200 meter relay as the team of
Alex Adams, Iliana Hernandez, Narwinda Semakula, and
Rose Talbert ran a time of 1:46.26 for the win.
Jocelyn Onstot from Rose-Hulman picked up another win for the Engineers in the 1 mile run, with a time of 5:19.18.
In a record smashing 400 meter dash
Rose Talbert secured the win for Rose-Hulman, turning in a time of 58.12 seconds - a new HCAC Meet and Anderson University - Kardatzke Wellness Center Facilty Record.
Olivia Sparks from Transylvania finished in second place, but her impressive time of 58.38 would have also broken the 12 year old HCAC meet record, save for
Talbert finishing just ahead.
Chesnee Miller from Manchester ran a time of 2:20.96 to take the gold medal in the 800 meter run.
Similar to the 400 meter dash, the meet's 200 meter dash also featured multiple times fast enough to break the previous HCAC record. Berea's
Kymiah Blair took the gold and now holds the new HCAC conference record with her winning time of 25.56 seconds. Second place finisher
Rose Talbert (Rose-Hulman) and
Olivia Sparks (Transylvania) in third place also each put in times under 26 seconds and quick enough to have bested the previous record, but just behind the new standard set by
Blair.
In the 3000 Meter run, Berea’s
Madison Stonestreet picked up first with a time of 10:45.16.
To cap the day on the track, the 4x400 meter relay team from Berea finished on top, with
Katerina Kovalevskaya, Kymiah Blair, Kristin Fischili, and
Ashyia Maddickes running a time of 4:02.64 for the win - and a new HCAC Meet Record.

In the field events the weight throw saw Manchester's
Carley Camp take first place with a heave of 16.99m - a new HCAC Meet Record.
In the Shot put,
Camp found her way back to the top step of the podium with a toss of 13.83 meters.
In the high jump,
Amelia Adams of Bluffton cleared a height of 1.54 meters to take first in the event.
In the long jump,
Ashyia Maddickes from Berea returned to the podium with a leap of 5.17 meters.
In the pole vault,
Irene Lema Madueno finished first for Rose-Hulman, clearing a height of 2.85 meters.
For Berea,
Ashyia Maddickes returned to the podium after she picked up first place in the triple jump with a jump of 10.23 meters.
