Terre Haute, IN – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Fightin' Engineers captured the women’s title on Saturday in the 2024 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Rose-Hulman claimed the championship with a dominating team performance and total score of 227. The championship victory marks the first time in HCAC Indoor Track and Field Championship history that a team has topped 200 points and the first time a team has amassed a margin of victory of more than 100 points over the second placed team. Finishing in second place was Hanover College, whose team tallied 124.5 points. Transylvania took third place with 95 points, while Manchester took fourth with 66 points. Franklin College tallied 37.5 points and a fifth place finish, with Bluffton University (36 points), Mount St. Joseph University (32 points), and Earlham College (20 points) taking 6th, 7th, and 8th places respectively. Anderson University finished in ninth place with 17 points and Defiance College rounded out the field with 6 points.

Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, led by head coach Larry Cole. Assistant Coaches are: Derick Lawrence, Christy Sherman, Liz Evans, Emily Lawrence, and Braelyn Stacy.
All-Conference Honors:
Each athlete and relay team that finished their respective events in First Place is named to the First Team HCAC All-Conference; Second Place finishers are named to the Second Team HCAC All-Conference; and Third Place finishers are named to the Honorable Mention HCAC All-Conference Teams.

The day on the track got started on the track in the 5000 meter, with Elsa King from Rose-Hulman finishing with a time of 19:02.72 for the win.
In the Distance Medley Relay, it was the team from Franklin who took first, with Haley Makowski, Vicki Arney, Ella Bashor and Mallory Watson teaming up for a time of 13:39.55.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Rose-Hulman's Narindwa Semakula picked up a win with a time of 9.21 seconds. Franklin College's Sarah O'Day captured the gold medal in the 60 meter dash, by sprinting to a school record time of 7.86.
Rose-Hulman won the 4x200 meter relay as the team of Jada Hunter-Hays, Alex Adams, Emma Johns and Rose Talbert ran a time of 1:47.06 for the win.
Jocelyn Onstot from Rose-Hulman picked up another win for the Engineers in the 1 mile run, with a time of 5:13.99.
In the 400 meter dash Rose Talbert secured the win for Rose-Hulman, turning in a time of 59.32 seconds.
Amberleigh Sorensen set a Hanover school record time of 2:18.91 to take the gold medal in the 800 meter run.
In the 200 meter dash, Transylvania's Olivia Sparks set a new HCAC conference record with her winning time of 25.85 seconds.
In the 3000 Meter run, Rose-Hulman’s Joccelyn Onstot picked up first with a time of 10:59.52.
To cap the day, the 4x400 meter relay team from Rose-Hulman finished on top, with Jada Hunter-Hays, Lauren Marquardt, Jocelyn Onstot, and Rose Talbert running a time of 4:13.83 for the win.
In the field events the shot put featured some dramatics as Jessie Stenger of Hanover set an HCAC conference record with a throw of 13.46 meters, but that mark was only the second best of the day's competition, as Carley Camp of Manchester bested Stenger's mark and set the new conference record with a throw of 14.63 meters. Camp continued her winning form in the weight throw, taking first place with a heave of 15.62m.
In the high jump, Taylor Roark of Transylvania cleared a height of 1.59 meters to set a new school record and take first in the event.
In the long jump, Rofiat Adeyemi from Rose-Hulman picked up a win, with a leap of 5.36 meters.
In the pole vault, for the second year in a row Nina Jazdzewski finished first for Hanover, clearing a height of 2.90 meters.
For Rose-Hulman, Rofiat Adeyemi picked up first place in the triple jump with a jump of 11.53 meters.
