HCAC 2021 Women’s Tennis Notebook, Week 4

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) women’s tennis teams competed in week four of the 2021-22 season.

Athlete of the Week:
Taylor Goldman (Naperville, Ill.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Sophomore – Goldman finished 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 2 doubles as Rose-Hulman defeated Manchester and fell to Ohio Northern last weekend. Goldman won 6-0, 6-0 against Manchester and picked up the only Engineer point against Ohio Northern with a 6-0, 6-2 win. She was part of a No. 1 doubles team that beat Manchester 8-1 and lost in a tiebreak 8-7 to Ohio Northern.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Linde Meerpoel (Wolvertem, Belgium) Hanover College | First-Year - Meerpoel helped lead the Panthers past Manchester 9-0 this past week. The first-year posted a perfect 2-0 record winning her No. 1 doubles match 8-6 before posting a strong 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles.
  • Jessica Burton (Catlettsburg, Ky.) Transylvania University | Senior - Burton teamed with Porsche Robinson to collect an 8-4 win in women’s doubles in the round of 32 at the ITA Regionals in Kalamazoo, Michigan this past week. Competing as unseeded players, Burton and Robinson beat the No. 5 seeded team from Hope College in the opening round before falling to a duo from Case Western Reserve in the Round of 16 by the score of 8-2.
