LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2026 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship began on Thursday, April 23 and continued Friday, April 24 at Transylvania in Lexington, Ky.
Through six events, Rose-Hulman sits in first in the men’s competition with 70 points, while Manchester leads in the women’s competition through five events with a team score of 62.
The women’s and men’s discus events kicked off this year’s championship on Thursday. Rose-Hulman’s Carolina Snyder-Perez set a new HCAC record to take get the meet started with a gold for the Engineers. She threw 43.74m to take the title.
On the men’s side Antoine Cooper took the discus title for the third year in a row. He threw 51.51m to give RHIT its first 10 points of the meet.
Competition continued on Friday with three field events and two track events going final.
On the track, Joshua Pohle from Rose-Hulman set a new HCAC record in the 10,000m with a time of 31:36.00, while Manchester’s
Gavin Byerly became a three-time HCAC steeplechase champion with a time of 9:28.42.
For the women, Ava Egolf from Manchester ran an 11:46.55 steeplechase to take gold, while
Ella Detjen from Transylvania took gold in the 10K with a time of 38:30.70.
In the field events, there was one more conference record as Hanover’s Sean Woods cleared 4.92m in the pole vault to take gold. Meanwhile, Anderson’s
Michael Sweigart returned to the top of the podium in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.92m and Manchester’s
Kenneth Redd Jr. won the long jump with a mark of 7.29m.
In the women’s events, Manchester’s Katrina Sejour won the hammer gold with a toss of 50.98m and Earlham’s
Isa Slone won the long jump with a mark of 5.44m.
Friday’s competition also included the preliminaries for the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 100/110m hurdles, and 400m hurdles. The championship will conclude tomorrow.
