The championship match lived up to its billing and was far closer than the final score would indicate, but ultimately the Fightin' Engineers stood strong to claim back-to-back conference championship titles.
The doubles point went to Rose-Hulman as they swept all three courts. In No. 3 doubles,
Eli McIntyre and
Joao Henrique Nossar of Rose-Hulman had a 6-1 win. In No. 2 doubles, the duo of
Grant Paradowski and
Ervin Perkowski slipped by with a 7-5 score. The No. 1 doubles court saw Rose-Hulman's
Tim Eckermann and
Chris Lian cruise to a 6 - 3 win.
As the competition turned to singles play, the third court would finish first and give the Engineers the 2-0 team points advantage.
In that match
Ervin Perkowski defeated Anderson's
Pedro Alves Sette by a tally of 6-1, 6-3.
Finishing very closely behind the threes was
Grant Paradowski on court four, who had the straight set 6-4, 6-0 win over the Ravens
Luis Angel Guerrero Lara. That left Rose-Hulman with a 3-0 team score and hoping for another court to get the win and secure the championship. The wait would be almost an hour, as the remaining courts were locked in competitive battles throughout.
In the end, the clinching win came on singles court one, as
Joao Nossar got the closely fought 7-5, 6-4 win over Anderson's
Arturo Mendoza. That point came at just the right time for the Engineers, as courts two, five and six were all engaged in close battles that looked to all potentially go deep into the third set.
For his efforts during the tournament, Rose-Hulman Senior
Grant Paradowski (Jeffersonville, IN) was named the 2025 HCAC Men’s Tennis Championship Most Outstanding Player.
With the Championship victory, Rose-Hulman earns the conference’s automatic qualification bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship, with the opening rounds scheduled for May 19-27, 2025 at a location to be announced by the NCAA on May 5 at 12:30 PM on ncaa.com.
