HCAC 2024-25 Women's Tennis Notebook, Week 18

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women’s Tennis teams competed in week eighteen of the 2024-25 season.

Athlete of the Week:
Vanessa Akuaku (Accra, Ghana) Earlham College | No. 1 Singles/No. 1 Doubles | First Year - Vanessa Akuaku led the Quakers in a 2-0 week to end conference play. The freshman went a combined 3-1, taking a 6-2, 6-3 win over Anderson, and a 6-2, 6-1 win over Franklin in No.1 singles. In doubles play, Akuaku and Lawrencia Manu took a 6-3 win over Anderson, and a 6-2 loss at Franklin. With a pair of wins this week, Earlham is hosting an HCAC Quarterfinal match for the first time since the program was revived in 2022.

  • Abby Cunningham (Monroe City, Ind.) Anderson University | No. 2 Singles/No. 2 Doubles | First Year - Abby Cunningham won her matches at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles against Hanover.
  • Annamarie Stogsdill (Nineveh, Ind.) Hanover College | No. 4 Singles/No. 1 Doubles | First Year - Stogsdill led the Panthers as they took on both Anderson and Franklin. She posted a perfect week, going 2-0 at no. 1 doubles and 2-0 at no. 4 singles. Despite surrendering the doubles point, Annamarie won no. 1 doubles 6-3. At no. 4 singles, she won 6-3, 6-3. In the team's win over Franklin, she claimed no. 1 doubles 6-4 and no. 4 singles 6-1, 6-0.
  • Addie Patterson (Versailles, Ky.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | No. 4 SIngles/No. 1 Doubles | First Year - Addie Patterson went 3-1 on the week, helping the Fightin' Engineers earn the No. 2 seed in the HCAC Tournament. Patterson earned a win at No. 4 singles against Transylvania, and wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles against Franklin.
  • Maria Hayes (Grayson, Ky.) Transylvania University | Singles/Doubles | Junior - Maria Hayes earned a doubles victory and a singles victory against Rose-Hulman on Saturday. Maria Hayes defeated Camille Clark, 6-2, 6-4, Katherine Taylor & Maria Hayes defeated Lia Taylor & Addie Patterson, 6-3.
