Anderson Names Nathan Manley as Swimming and Diving Coach

The Anderson University athletics department and Athletic Director Marcie Taylor have named Nathan Manley the Anderson men and women's swimming and diving head coach.

Manley returns to Anderson with 21 years of head coaching experience, including six as the Paralympic swimming coach with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).

"We are pleased to have Raven alum Nathan Manley returning to AU in this professional role to lead the men's and women's swim and dive program," Marcie Taylor said. "I believe Coach Manley will have a tremendously positive impact on our swim teams in key areas such as recruitment, training, competitiveness, and preparing our student-athletes for their next phase in life following graduation."

Manley was selected as the Paralympic swimming coach for the USOPC in 2016. During the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, Manley's coaching contributed to three world records, eight gold medals and 22 total medals by the U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team. He was tabbed as the 2021 USOPC Paralympic Coach of the Year.

Manley served as the head coach of the Rapids Area YMCA Swimmers (RAYS) in Grand Rapids, Mich. from 2004-15. During his tenure, the RAYS racked up several all-American finishes and top 16 times. He also coached at Natomas High School in Sacramento, Calif. for three years and Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. for a year.

"We are excited to be returning to campus and joining the work God is doing at AU," Nathan Manley said. "Thanks to those who have gone before, there is a solid foundation for fast swimming at Anderson. We want to continue to challenge the men and women in the program to do things they didn't know they could do in the pool and educate them for a life of faith and service beyond the pool."

Manley spent the 2023-24 year as the principal of Liberty Tree Academy in Falcon, Colo. He also served as an English Teacher during his tenure at Natomas High School.

Manley graduated from Anderson in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education. He then earned a Master of Arts in Physical Education with a specialization in Coaching from Ball State University in 2005.
