Rose-Hulman wins 2023 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Crown

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Rose-Hulman captured the women’s title on Saturday in the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship.

The Fightin’ Engineers took the title with a commanding 195.50 points. Hanover finished second with 127.50 points with Manchester taking third with 89 points. Franklin tallied 79 points for fourth place, with Mount St. Joseph taking fifth with 40 points. Transylvania (37) placed sixth, Defiance (25) took seventh, Bluffton (22) finished eighth and Earlham (20) and Anderson (16) placed ninth and tenth respectively. 

In both the track and field events, many teams were represented on top of the podium. In the first event of the day, Hannah Brubaker took the top spot on the women’s 5000 meter run with a time of 19:44.73 for Manchester. In the women’s distance medley relay Franklin raced to a first-place finish with a time of 13:42.60 with the team comprised of Angelina Gregory, Lex Desenber, Mallory Watson, anchored by Jill Anspaugh. 

In the 60 meter hurdles, Rose-Hulman picked up a win with Narindwa Semakula crushing the competition with a time of 9.12. Zaleeya Martin left it all on the track as she set a new HCAC Championship record with an impressive 7.73 time in the 60 meter dash. 

Rose-Hulman once again found themselves atop the podium, this time in the 4x200 meter relay. The team of Jenae Mona, Alex Adams, Katrina Agustin, and Jada Hunter-Hays ran a time of 1:49.86 for the win. Madison Lindfelt picked up the Fightin’ Engineers a win in the 1 mile run, in a time of 5:27.63. 

In the 400 meter dash Lisa-Maria Markau snagged the win for Defiance, turning in a time of 1:01.50. Amberle Sorensen picked up a win in the 800 meter run for Hanover, racing a time of 2:25.42. In the 200 meter dash, familiar face Sarah O’Day from Franklin earned the win, with a time of 26.53. 

In the 3000 Meter run Manchester’s Hannah Brubaker picked up first with a time of 11:27.37. To cap the day, the 4x400 meter relay team from Rose-Hulman finished on top, with Emily Peterson, Madison Lindfelt, Sarah Shoemaker, and Jada Hunter-Hays running a time of 4:13.25 for the win. 

On the field side, Carley Camp from Manchester got things started, winning the weight throw with a toss of 15.09 meters. Though she didn’t stop there, Carley Camp also took first in the shot put, with a throw of 13.55 setting a new HCAC Championship Meet record. 

Finding her way to the top of the podium, Transylvania’s Taylor Roark captured the high jump title, clearing a height of 1.53 meters for the win. For Rose-Hulman, Rofiat Adeyemi picked up first in the triple jump with a leap of 11.64 meters, a new HCAC Championship Meet record. Rofiat Adeyemi also won the long jump, with a 5.35 meter mark besting the competition, for her second straight conference champion title. 

In the pole vault, Ally McGuire finished first for Hanover, clearing a height of 2.55 meters. 


The HCAC recognizes the top three finishers in events as HCAC All-Conference. The complete list of HCAC All-Conference honorees are listed below. In a vote of league coaches, the following student-athletes were honored with the marque awards of the meet:
