CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the Men’s Soccer All-Conference and marquee awards winners on Tuesday.
Following its undefeated run of the conference slate, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned the Offensive Player of the Year in
Takezo Kelly (Cincinnati, Ohio). This is the second straight award for the junior, who led the league in shots (71) and shots on goal (35) in 2021. Kelly was fifth in the league in goals with nine and also added five assists. His 12 conference points were also good enough for fourth in the league.
The regular season runners up, Hanover College, claimed the Defensive Player of the Year, with
Evan Redmon (Louisville, Ky.) selected in a vote of league coaches. The senior saw action in 1,165 minutes for the Panthers getting a start in all 17 Hanover contests. He helped direct a back line that only allowed a league leading three goals.
The HCAC also recognizes a Newcomer of the Year, an athlete who made an impact in their first year of athletic action. Franklin College’s
Jon Moore (New Palestine, Ind.) was selected as the Newcomer of the Year. The forward was third in the league in goals in 2021 with six and third in the conference in points at 14. He saw action in 16 games for the Grizzlies, accumulating 10 goals and one assist behind 15 shots on goal.
Anderson University front man
Scott Fridley was named the 2021 HCAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year. Fridley led the Ravens to a No. 3 seed, finishing with a 5-2-2 in conference play and a mark of 8-8-2 overall.
