Manchester Claims HCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

RESULTS

LEXINGTON, KY – The Manchester University women’s track and field team won the 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship held at Transylvania University on April 24-25.  The Spartans earned their second outdoor track and field title, holding off Franklin by 12.5 points. It was the Spartans’ first women’s HCAC outdoor title since 2009.

The Manchester women’s team won five events on its way to the conference championship.  Sophomore Mariah Jordan (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) won the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs, while senior Bridgette Rowe (La Quinta, Calif./H.S.) earned titles in the long jump and high jump. Sophomore Barinem Aator (West Lafayette, Ind./H.S.) rounded out the event winners for the Spartans, earning the title in the hammer throw.

Franklin finished second in the women team standings with 161 points with Hanover placing third with 111.5 points. Transylvania finished fourth with 84 points and was followed by Rose-Hulman (65 points), Defiance (59), Anderson (45), Earlham (41), Bluffton (38), and Mount St. Joseph (2).
