Hanover College Wins Second Straight HCAC Indoor Track & Field Title

DEFIANCE, OH – The Rose-Hulman Institute
of Technology men’s and Hanover College women’s track
and field team held off Franklin and Rose-Hulman at the third
annual Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and
Field Championships held at Defiance College on February 16.
The Engineers men scored 206.5 points in the 17 events to hold off
Franklin’s 118 point effort to claim their third straight
HCAC men’s indoor track title. The Hanover
women’s track team earned their second straight indoor title,
holding off Rose-Hulman by 50 points.
The Hanover women’s team won six different events,
tallying 166 points. Sophomore Briahna Chambers
(Bell, Tex./Ellison) won a pair of events to lead the
Panthers, claiming HCAC records in the 60-meter and 200-meter
dashes. The Hanover 1,600-meter relay team was the fastest at
the meet and three other Panthers earned HCAC titles in their
events.
Rose finished second in the women team standings with 116
points, while Franklin placed third with 110 points. Defiance
finished fourth with 86 points and was followed by Manchester (73
points), Anderson (50), Bluffton (46), Earlham (7), Transylvania
(3), and Mount St. Joseph (2).
