FRANKLIN, IN – The Hanover College women’s track and field team held off Anderson at the 2012 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships held at Franklin College on April 27-28.   The Panthers earned their second straight outdoor track and field title, holding off the Ravens by 33 points.

The Hanover women’s team won three events on its way to the conference championship.  Senior Rachel Moreland (Lawton, Mich./H.S.) won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:53.78. Junior Lexi Vincz (Greenfield, Ind./Eastern Hancock) claimed the title in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.20), while freshman Mackenzie Dye (New Castle, Ind./H.S.) earned the top mark in the 10,000-meter run (39:38.82).

One other conference record was broken at the 2012 championships.  Rose-Hulman’s Tanya Colonna (Brecksville, Ohio/H.S.) broke the record in the women’s pole vault, clearing 3.40 meters.

Anderson finished second in the women team standings with 125 points with Manchester placing third with 104.5 points. Rose-Hulman finished fourth with 103 points and was followed by Defiance (88 points), Franklin (67), Transylvania (60), Bluffton (34), Earlham (29.5), and Mount St. Joseph (10).
