2026 HCAC Baseball Championship - Day 3 Recap

KOKOMO, Ind. No. 3 seed Rose-Hulman picked up two wins in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Baseball Championship elimination contests on Saturday at Kokomo Municipal Stadium to advance to the championship round.

The Fightin’ Engineers will play No. 2 seed Transylvania, the tournament’s undefeated team, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 10. The “in necessary” will follow if needed.

In the first matchup on Saturday, RHIT took on No. 4 seed Hanover. The Panthers took an early lead in the first before the Fightin’ Engineers pulled ahead 4-2. Hanover then scored three runs of their own in the top of the fourth to gain a 5-4 advantage. Rose-Hulman recaptured the lead in the bottom of the inning and would not trail for the remainder as it cruised to a 9-5 win.

The result set up a matchup with No. 2 seed Earlham. The game was a back-and-forth battle with four lead changes. However, it was the Fightin’ Engineers that would have the last laugh as Connor Smith hit a walkoff single to send Rose-Hulman into the championship round.
