2026 HCAC Baseball Championship - Day 1 Recap

KOKOMO, Ind.After the first day of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Baseball Championship, No. 1 seed Earlham and No. 2 seed Transylvania end the day as the two undefeated teams. Play will resume tomorrow with four more games starting at 10 a.m. at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.

The day started off with a slugfest as No. 3 seed Rose-Hulman used a 10-run second inning to open up a big lead on No. 6 seed Franklin. The Grizzlies were able to close the gap, but ultimately fell 15-9.

Game two was a thriller as Anderson came into the ninth inning tailing the Panthers 6-3. The Ravens got two back early in the inning to close the lead to 6-5. They were down to their last strike when Ben Brown sent a two-run bomb out of the park to give Anderson its first lead of the game and the 7-6 victory.

The win set up the Ravens matchup with the top-seeded Quakers. However, they could not carry the momentum into their second game of the day as Earlham picked up the 10-3 victory.

The night concluded with a strong showing from the second-seeded Pioneers as they earned an 11-1 run-rule victory in seven innings.

Friday’s action will begin with back-to-back elimination games. Hanover and Franklin will matchup in Game 5 to open the day, followed by Anderson and Rose-Hulman trying to keep their championship hopes alive. Game 7 features the contest between the two undefeateds followed by the elimination game between the Friday early winners.
