CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) men’s lacrosse teams competed in week nine of the 2026 season.

Athletes of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week
Jack DeWeese (Indianapolis, Ind.) Hanover College | Attack | Freshman - Jack DeWeese led Hanover as it defeated Earlham 20-6. The freshman continued his outstanding season netting a career-high nine goals with an assist for 10 points. He tallied 20 total shots, 15 of which landed on frame. Jack tallied three ground balls and forced two caused turnovers.

Defensive Player of the Week
Nick DeGrandi (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper  | Sophomore - Nick DeGrandi went 1–1 in goal for Transylvania on the week, recording one save in a 27–2 win over Spalding. He followed with a strong effort in a loss to ONU, tallying 11 saves and anchoring the defense throughout the contest.

Notable Performances:
  • Jontae Johnson (Owensboro, Ky.) Spalding University | Midfield | Junior - Jontae Johnson tallied three goals in the win against Earlham.
  • John Kelly (Wellington, Fla.) Spalding University | Goalkeeper | Senior - John Kelly tallied 22 saves in a 9-8 victory over Earlham. He also tallied three ground balls.
  • Andrew Welch (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Attack | Junior - Andrew Welch led the Transylvania offense with a standout performance against Spalding, totaling seven points on three goals and four assists. He recorded eight shots, including four on goal, and added two ground balls in the contest. Welch also contributed an assist in Transylvania’s matchup against ONU, continuing his impact offensively.
