TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2026 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Friday at the Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
On Friday, Franklin extended its lead in the women’s competition with 627 points. Meanwhile, Rose-Hulman took the lead for the men, registering a three-day point total of 586.
The third day of competition began with the 200 medley relays. Franklin took gold in the women’s race with Kat Lundy,
Avery Tomlinson,
Celeste Hollis, and
Landi Newcomb clocking in at 1:46.43 for first place. Meanwhile, the Rose-Hulman squad of
Ethan Moen,
Carter Kirtz,
JJ Leto, and
Walter Kotlin finished in 1:33.38 to win the men’s race.
The Franklin women were able to extend their lead on Friday, thanks in part to two record-setting performances. First, Hollis touched the wall at 55.25 in the 100 butterfly to set new HCAC Championship and Open records. It was her third straight HCAC gold in the event. Later in the evening, Lundy set the new meet record in the 100 backstroke at 56.19. She also completed the trifecta with that performance, defending her event title for the third year in a row.
The Grizzlies also claimed individual titles in the 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, and 100 breaststroke. Lundy was the 400 IM Champion with a time of 4:41.00, while Petal Sloan took home the gold in the 200 freestyle at 1:53.26. Tomlinson won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.86.
For the men, the Fightin’ Engineers’ Trevor Wiley defended his 400 IM title with a time of 4:01.89. Meanwhile, Transylvania’s
Kole Brannock won his third straight HCAC gold in the 100 butterfly, registering a time of 49.92.
Keaton Stephenson picked up a gold medal for Franklin as he won the 200 freestyle at 1:44.68.
Eric Sinclair tacked on another individual title for Rose-Hulman with a win in the 100 breaststroke. He finished in 55.57 for his second straight HCAC gold. Transylvania’s Brannock also became a three-time Conference Champion in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.86.
Andrew Geiger wrapped up the evening picking up a first place finish in 1-meter diving for the Fightin’ Engineers. He had a finals score of 359.75.
The HCAC Championships conclude tomorrow, Feb. 14 with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. There will be a ceremony to celebrate the HCAC Seniors prior to the finals in the evening.
