HCAC 2024-25 Men's Tennis Notebook, Week 17

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s Tennis teams competed in week seventeen of the 2024-25 season.

Athlete of the Week:
Eli McIntyre (Avon, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | No. 6 Singles/No. 3 Doubles | First Year - Eli McIntyre helped the Fightin' Engineers earn the HCAC regular season title after picking up wins over Franklin and Transylvania last week. He went 4-0 with wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. In the match against the Pioneers, the score was tied 3-3. McIntyre was the hero of the day, picking up the match-winning point after defeating his opponent with a score of 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the regular season title. 

Notable Performances:
  • Pedro Sette (Belo Horizante, Brazil) Anderson University | No. 3 Singles/No. 2 Doubles | First Year - Pedro Sette won his matches at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles against Hanover.
  • Ivan Wularu (Kumasi, Ghana) Earlham College | No. 1 Singles/No. 1 Doubles | Sophomore - Ivan Wularu rounded out the regular season with a 6-0 record at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles. The sophomore went 3-0 at singles, picking up wins over Manchester 6-2, 6-2, Anderson 7-5, 6-3, and Franklin 6-4, 6-2. In doubles play, Wularu teamed up with Dreek Saha for a 3-0 record. The pair downed Manchester 6-1, Anderson 6-2, and Franklin 7-5. With the Quaker win over Manchester on Tuesday, Earlham clinched its first HCAC postseason berth since the program was revived in 2022.
  • Jake Fascione (Poole, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) Hanover College | No. 1 Singles/No. 1 Doubles | Sophomore - Fascione led the Panthers as they posted a 1-1 week, taking on Anderson and Franklin. He posted a perfect 4-0 mark on the week, going 2-0 at no. 1 doubles. He also won his no. 2 singles match against Anderson 6-3, 6-1 and his no. 1 singles match against Franklin 6-2, 6-3.
  • Ray Forrest (Fort Wayne, Ind.) Manchester University | No. 2 Singles/No. 2 Doubles | First Year - Forrest had an exceptional weekend for the Spartans as he helped pick up the Spartans first HCAC win of the season against Berea College. Forrest started the day winning 6-2 at the No. 2 Doubles position with partner Drew Schrier and would then go on to dominate at the No. 2 Singles position.
