CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Baseball teams competed in week four of the 2025 season.

Hitter of the Week:
Brendan Tabor (New Palestine, Ind.) Anderson University | Catcher | Senior - In a 4-2 week, Brendan Tabor smashed 5 homers and drive in 15 runs. He went 13-for-21, finishing the week with a .619 batting average, a .671 on-base percentage and a 1.381 slugging percentage.

Pitching Athlete of the Week:
John Girard (Richmond, Ky.) Hanover College | Pitcher | Junior - Girard led the Panthers to victory over Cornell as he threw a complete game shutout. He allowed just three hits and charted six strikeouts en route to the win.

  • Ayden Spriggs (New Lewisburg, Ohio) Bluffton University | Third Base | Junior - Spriggs went 6-of-13 for a .462 batting average in three games for the Beavers this week. He hit a homer, drove in five runs and scored three times while slugging .692 with a .500 on-base percentage.
  • Noah Rosato (Elizabethtown, Tenn.) Earlham College | First Base | Sophomore - Noah Rosato led the Quakers at the plate over Spring Break, slashing .467/.474/.867 in four games. The Quaker DH went 7-15 with two home runs, including a grand slam to take a 6-1 lead over the Merchant Marine Academy. Rosato scored two runs, drove in nine, and stole one base on the week.
  • Josh Girvan (Zionsville, Ind.) Franklin College | Infield | First Year - Girvan hit .500 (6-for-12) with three RBI and five runs scored for the Grizzlies over three games last week, recording a hit in all three contests.
  • Josh Simpson (Bardstown, Ind.) Hanover College | Junior - Simpson led Hanover as they competed at Millikin over the weekend. The junior went 5-for-11 at the dish with three RBI. He posted a .455 slugging percentage and two stolen bases.
  • Alex Westfield (Rockledge, Fla.) Manchester University | Short Stop | First Year - The first year had a stellar weekend at the plate as the Spartans swept Trine University. Westfield finished the two games with a .571 BA after finishing 4-7 with 5 RBIs, one double, one HR, and two runs scored. In game two vs Trine, Westfield finished 2-3 with four RBIs including a three run Home Run in the 6th to give the Spartans a four run lead.
  • Mason Rasmussen  (Lake Barrignton, Ill.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Catcher | Junior - Mason Rasmussen had a productive week at the plate as the Fightin' Engineers swept the Elmhurst Blue Jays in a four-game series this past weekend. Across the four games, Rasmussen went 7-16 for a batting average of .438. He also scored six runs and recorded eight RBIs with two doubles and one home run. His home run earned Rose-Hulman the walk-off win in the first game of the series with a final score of 8-6 after 11 innings.
  • Baxter Tedesco (Louisville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Third Base | First Year - In an action packed week full of baseball, freshman Baxter Tedesco showed up both at the plate and in the field. Over the course of three games this weekend, Tedesco went 6 of 10 AB, for 1 run and 1 double. Tedesco notched 2 RBI's for the week, and is currently batting .389 with a .528 slugging percentage.
Pitching Athletes
  • Logan Nickel (Westfield, Ind.) Anderson University | Pitcher | Senior - Logan Nickel totaled 8 innings, struck out 6 batters, issued 3 walks and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits. In a no-decision against Alma, Nickel fanned 3 batters, yield 2 walks and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings. Nickel also contributed 2 innings in a staff start against Knox and he fanned 3 batters, isuued 1 walk and allowed 1 hit in 2 scoreless innings.
  • Jaden Jaques (New Palestine, Ind.) Bluffton University | Pitcher | Graduate - Jaques went 5.0 innings in his Tuesday afternoon start, posting a 3.60 ERA with three strikeouts and no walks. He allowed six hits against Albion.
  • Kyle Jeffries (Gilbert, Ariz.) Earlham College | Pitcher | Sophomore - Kyle Jeffries threw a complete game shutout in a 14-0 win over Principia on Sunday. The sophomore threw seven innings without allowing a walk, and recorded five strikeouts with four hits.
  • Cameron Manuel (Akron, Ind.) Franklin College | Pitcher | First Year - Manuel earned the first win of his career on Sunday afternoon, giving up one run on two hits with two strikeouts over six innings against Albion.
  • Rocco Hanes (Ossian, Ind.) Manchester University | Utility | Senior - Hanes picked up his second win of the year after pitching a complete game for the Spartans in their first win over Trine. The Spartans would win 8-2 as Rocco pitched all nine innings, allowing only two runs and walking one. Hanes struck out 9 batters to improve to 2-2 on the season.
  • Caleb Mosteller (Avon, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Pitcher | Senior - Caleb Mosteller had a strong pitching performance in the team's 10-7 win over Elmhurst this past weekend. Mosteller pitched 2.1 innings of relief allowing one hit, two runs, zero earned runs, and recording four strikeouts.
