HCAC 2025 Women's Soccer Notebook, Week 8

CARMEL, Ind. - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women's Soccer teams competed in week eight of the 2025 season.

Athletes of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week:
Emma Gill (Needham, Ind.) Hanover College | Forward | Sophomore - Gill led the Panthers to a 2-0 week as they defeated Berea and Manchester 8-0. She finished the week with four total goals on six shots for a combined eight points and a .833 shot on goal percentage.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Madison Kutscher (Rossford, Ohio) Bluffton University | Goalkeeper | First Year - Kutscher was outstanding between the pipes, finishing the week with 26 saves, including a ridiculous 17 in a 2-0 loss to HCAC-leading Anderson on Wednesday. She followed that with nine saves in Bluffton's 1-0 Senior Day shutout of Franklin on Sunday.

Offensive
  • Natalie Marcum (Noblesville, Ind.) Anderson University | Midfielder | First Year - Natalie Marcum delivered 3 goals as Anderson went 2-0 on the week. She contributed 1 goal against Bluffton and 2 goals against Berea.
  • Sara Knight (Sewanee, Tenn.) Berea College | Midfielder | Sophomore - Sara Knight, a Sophomore midfielder from Sewanee, TN, has been key contributor in the Mountaineers' offense during this week.
  • Kendal Fox (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) Mount St. Joseph University | Midfield | Sophomore - Lions senior midfielder Kendall Fox helped the team to a pair of HCAC wins this week. In the teams 3-1 over Transy on Wednesday she scored a pair including the game winner. Then on Saturday as the Lions beat Earlham 3-1, she dished out an assist. For the week she registered 5 total shots with 3 on frame, and 5 points.
  • Lauren Marquardt (Savage, Minn.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Forward | Senior - Lauren Marquardt helped lead Rose-Hulman to a 1-0-1 record where they defeated Earlham 1-0 and tied Transylvania 0-0. Marquardt scored the game winning goal in the win over Earlham, while attempting two shots which were both on target. In the tie with Transylvania, Marquardt recorded five shots with three shots on goal, finishing the week with a total of seven shots and five shots on goal.
Defensive
  • Adrienne Weyers (Granger, Ind.) Anderson University | Goalkeeper | Senior - Adrienne Weyers saved each of the 8 shots she faced this week as Anderson went 2-0. Weyers posted a 6-save shutout against Bluffton. She then started the first half against Berea and added 2 saves.
  • Kennedy Bugg (Harrodsburg, Ky.) Berea College | Defender | First Year -Kennedy Bugg, a Freshman center back from Harrodsburg, KY has taken on the role of leader at the backline.   Kennedy had several cut out passes, won countless 1v1 battles, and blocked multiple shots this week.
  • Emma Patterson (Owensboro, Ky.) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Senior - Patterson led the Panthers as she posted a 2-0 week, getting wins over Berea and Manchester. She tallied 110 minutes in frame and two clean sheets.
  • Rachel Ginn (Cincinnati, Ohio) Mount St. Joseph University | Center Back | Sophomore - MSJ sophomore defender Rachel Ginn helped the team to a pair of 3-1 wins this week. She played 145 of a possible 160 minutes at center back, dishing out an assist.
  • Ally Smith (Louisville, Ky.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Defender | Junior - Ally Smith helped lead Rose-Hulman to a 1-0-1 record where they defeated Earlham 1-0 and tied Transylvania 0-0. In the win over Earlham, Smith helped lead a defense that did not allow a single shot on goal, leading to the shutout win. In the following match, the Fightin' Engineers allowed just two shots on goal, concluding the week with just one shot on goal allowed per game.
