Carmel, Ind – Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Commissioner Jay Jones announced the hiring of two new staff members on Thursday.
Grace Schott has been hired as Assistant Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator while Ben Miles has been named Coordinator of Athletic Communications.
“I am thrilled to welcome Grace and Ben to the ‘heart of DIII’ and the HCAC office. These two new staff roles will help maximize the HCAC office culture of care and service for our member institutions and student-athletes. With the recent departure of Stacey LaDew as the new Commissioner of the Southern Athletic Association and the parallel timing of the conclusion of Isaiah Campbell’s internship, we saw this time as a unique opportunity to refocus our internal staff roles to better serve our student-athletes and member institutions and I am excited that Grace and Ben will step into these newly defined roles.” said Commissioner Jones.
Grace Schott, Assistant Commissioner / Senior Woman Administrator
Grace Schott comes to the HCAC following the completion of her Master of Business Administration within the Ohio University’s nationally recognized sports administration program. During her time at Ohio U, Schott also served in two different roles within the Bobcats athletic department, with stints as both the Assistant Coordinator of Compliance and Operations Assistant.
Prior to Ohio University, Schott served as the Digital Marketing/Business Operations student assistant at Saint Louis University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports Business and Bachelor of Science in Analytics and Enterprise Systems.
Within the HCAC office, Schott will serve as the primary Conference SAAC Advisor and the primary conference liaison to Special Olympics and the HCAC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. In addition, Schott will work to improve the student-athlete conference championship experience and the flow of communications with all conference constituents.
Ben Miles, Coordinator of Athletic Communications
Miles assumes the role of HCAC Coordinator of Athletic Communications after having served as the Social Media Coordinator for the Campus Activities Council and a Student Involvement Programmer for HCAC member Manchester University. Miles also served as the President for Manchester’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Miles recently earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Manchester, with a minor in Spanish and Public Relations. Miles was a four-year member of the cross country and track teams at Manchester, where he was a valuable piece of his team’s HCAC conference titles in those sports.
Within the HCAC office, Ben will oversee, enhance, and maintain the HCAC website, design and implement a new media communications strategy and work to better promote the Conference via publication of competition results, conference events, awards and promote student-athletes within the conference for their non-athletic accomplishments.
