Translyania University wins 2023 HCLC Women's Lacrosse Championship

LEXINGTON, KY. – The 2023 Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship, Transylvania University defeats Franklin College. Transylvania punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship.

Championship Saturday, saw Franklin travel south to Lexington, Kentucky to face Transylvania for a shot at the HCLC championship. A week ago the two matched up in Franklin, IN which resulted in Transylvania winning the regular season matchup 27-4.  

The championship game between the two was quite similar. Transylvania struck in the first minute and never looked back. Transylvania ended up capturing the HCLC Women’s Lacrosse Championship, defeating Franklin College 21-4.  The win allowed the Pioneers to remain undefeated against all HCLC competition this season. 

Transylvania was led by Abbey Peterson (Versailles, KY), with seven points scoring six goals with one assist. Vianne Koshoffer (Cincinnati, OH), led Transylvania in assists with four. Franklin goalie Riley Rice (Waynesville OH), recorded 18 saves in the loss. Transylvania goalie Abi Waldron (Louisville, KY), recorded four saves in the victory.  

Transylvania awaits the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse selection show, to determine their first-round matchup, looking to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament after a second-round exit a year ago.  

Following the completion of the championship game, the HCLC named an all-tournament team.
