HCLC 2026 Women's Lacrosse Notebook, Week 8

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) women’s lacrosse teams competed in week eight of the 2026 season.

Athletes of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week
Avery Kirkhope (Lexington, Ky.) Transylvania University | Midfield | Sophomore - Avery Kirkhope led Transylvania to a 20-5 win at Spalding Saturday, clinching the regular season title for Transylvania. She scored a game high ten points- three goals and seven assists. She also recorded nine shots, seven on goal.

Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Bruner (Somerset, Ky.) Transylvania University | Midfield | Sophomore - Grace Bruner recorded seven ground balls and three caused turnovers in Transylvania’s 20-5 win over Spalding on Saturday.

Notable Performances:
  • Maddie Cary (Chesterton, Ind.) Franklin College | Defense | Senior - Maddie Cary caused three turnovers for Franklin in its season finale at Hanover and also capped her career by scoring her first collegiate goal.
  • Addie Whitman (Franklin, Ind.) Franklin College | Attack | Junior - Addie Whitman tallied six goals to lead Franklin in its season finale at Hanover, upping her total to a team-leading 30 for the year. The junior also had four draw controls on the afternoon.
  • Emma Williams (Crestwood, Ky.) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Junior - Emma Williams secured the win in frame over Franklin playing a full 60 minutes. She tallied a game-high 18 saves en route to the win. 
  • Quinn Cherry (Louisville., Ky.) Hanover College | Attack | Sophomore - Quinn Cherry led Hanover in its season finale, defeating Franklin 12-9. The sophomore was outstanding, scoring or assisting on the team's first five goals. She finished the contest with three goals and three assists for a combined six points. Cherry tallied five shots, four of which landed on frame.
