Hanover wins 2021-22 HCAC Commissioner’s Cup

CARMEL, Ind. – The Hanover College Panthers have been crowned the 2021-22 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Commissioner's Cup Champions.

This is the 17th annual Commissioners Cup and is awarded to the institution whose athletic department registers the most all-sports points in both men's and women's athletics over the course of the academic year. Following the 2020-21 season, the conference deviated from its traditional awards structure, recognizing the league’s athletic training staffs as the honorary Commissioner’s Cup honorees.

In 2021-22 the Panthers accumulated 146.01 points to claim the title, their third straight competitive year earning the honor. Hanover registered one regular season conference championship during the year in men’s basketball, and were runners up in women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, and men’s tennis.

Lynn Hall, Vice President for Athletics, leads the Hanover athletic department.

Hanover narrowly claimed the lead in the overall Commissioner's Cup standings, with 146.01 points. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished in second with 145.33 points, while Transylvania University took third with 133.345 points. Franklin College placed in fourth with 123.33 points while Anderson University took fifth with 104.99 points. Manchester University (90) was just behind in sixth place, with Mount St. Joseph University (81.01), Bluffton University (71.33), Earlham College (67.16) and Defiance College (43.495) rounding out the standings.

The 2021-22 academic year was the 17th for the Commissioner's Cup. The award is based on accumulation of points in the HCAC's 22 championships and all affiliate sports.
