CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the 2022 Men's Basketball All-Conference teams and the major award winners.
Maurice Knight (Frankton, Ind.) from Anderson University was named the Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year, in a vote of league coaches. Knight was a force on both ends of the court within the league, averaging 20.0 points a game and racking up 519 points over the course of 2021-22. The senior also averaged 7.8 rebounds, pulling in 202 over the course of the year. Knight did it all, with a 2.4 assists average with an impressive 0.8 assist to turnover ratio and added a mark of 1.2 steals a game.
Transylvania landed the Newcomer of the Year, with
Hunter Penn (Versailles, Ky) earning the honor. The first-year averaged 13.1 points a game netting 315 point over the course of the season. Penn was second in the league with 9.2 boards a contest, pulling in 221 in 2021-22. He was also second best in the conference in blocks with 1.5 a game with a 1.0 steals per game average.
After leading Hanover to a 19-4 regular season record in 2022,
Jon Miller was voted as the 2022 HCAC Coach of the Year.

Newcomer of the Year – Hunter Penn, Transylvania University
Coach of the Year – Jon Miller, Hanover College
The HCAC also honors an All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention Team. The members of those teams are selected by a vote of league coaches.
