Spalding University Slated to Join HCLC in 2022

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) announced that it will add Spalding University as an affiliate member in both men's and women's lacrosse competition, beginning with the spring 2022 season.

"We are excited to welcome Spalding as an affiliate member in the sports of men's and women's lacrosse," said HCLC Commissioner Jay Jones. "This partnership solidifies and advances our league's membership as we continue to grow these sports."

Spalding joins the existing women's teams from Anderson University, Earlham College, Franklin College, Hanover College, Mount St. Joseph University and Transylvania University. On the men's side, the new members will join Anderson, Earlham, Hanover, Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania.

"We are excited about the opportunity to join the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference as affiliate members for our inaugural 2022 men's and women's lacrosse season," said Spalding University Athletic Director Roger Burkman. "With the completion of our 6 million-dollar Spalding Athletics Complex, we look forward to working to grow lacrosse within the league and be good stewards of the HCLC."

Spalding, currently a primary conference member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will play its maiden lacrosse seasons in the HCLC, announcing the addition of the programs in December 2019. The men's program will be led by Jake Acevedo, with Mallory Bahr at the helm of the women's team.
