2026 HCAC Men's Soccer Notebook, Week 4

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men’s soccer teams competed in week four of the 2026 season.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Carson Reed (Fairfield, Ohio) Anderson University | Midfield | Junior - Carson Reed provided two goals and an assist as Anderson went 2-0 on the week. He assisted on a goal in Anderson's 2-1 win against Alma. Reed then netted both of Anderson's goals in a 2-0 victory against Mount St. Joseph.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Ryland Wamsley (Beavercreek, Ohio) Earlham College | Goalkeeper | Junior - Ryland Wamsley returned to the field this week for Earlham with two shutouts and a win to open conference play. Wamsley collected three saves on the week.

Notable Performances:
Offense:
  • Nick Meyer (Lewisburg, Ohio) Bluffton University | Forward | Sophomore - Nick Meyer set up Bluffton with two assists last week, one in each match. His helper against Heidelberg propelled Bluffton to a 1-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
  • Mason Paul (Baltimore, Md.) Earlham College | Midfield | Junior - Mason Paul led the Earlham offense in a 2-0 week, scoring two goals with one assist.
  • Kunal Chawla (Carmel, Ind.) Hanover College | Midfield | Sophomore - Kunal Chawla led Hanover to a 2-0 week as it defeated both Centre and Franklin. The sophomore tallied two goals on four shots, all of which landed on frame. The sophomore added a goal in both contests coming off the bench.
  • Fola Afolayan (Indianapolis, Ind.) Manchester University | Forward | Freshman - Fola Afolayan scored two goals, including the game-winner, earning four points with two shots on goal in a 3-1 victory over Trine. He also recorded one shot on goal against Earlham on Saturday.
  • Greyson Hovermale (Pendleton, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Midfield/Forward | Sophomore - Greyson Hovermale had a career day against Berea, helping lift Rose-Hulman to a win in its HCAC opener. Hovermale recorded a brace after coming off the bench, which marked the first two goals of his college career.
  • Gus Dickman (New Albany, Ind.) Transylvania University | Midfielder | Senior - Gus Dickman had a strong week for Transylvania, recording three shots - all on goal, and one goal in the HCAC opener victory at Bluffton. He also led the team in shots with four against Wittenberg.
Defense:
  • Braydon Kennedy (Garrett, Ind.) Anderson University | Goalkeeper | Junior - Braydon Kennedy saved three of four shots in Anderson's win against Alma. He then played a major role in Anderson's conference-opening win against Mount St. Joseph with a match-high eight intercepts.
  • Dugan Webster (Noblesville, Ind.) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Sophomore - Dugan Webster secured two wins in goal as Hanover defeated both Centre and Franklin. The sophomore had six saves for a 85.7 save percentage and combined for a clean sheet against Centre.
  • Justin Burns (Tulsa, Okla.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Goalkeeper | Sophomore - Justin Burns allowed  just one goal in two matches. Against Wilmington, he totaled three saves. Then against Berea, he led the team to a shutout win.
  • Ethan Drew (Clarksville, Tenn.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper | Junior - Ethan Drew recorded two saves in Transylvania’s 1-1 tie with Wittenberg Tuesday and two in their 4-1 HCAC win at Bluffton.
