HCAC 2025-26 Men's Indoor Track & Field Notebook, Week 5

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field teams competed in week five of the 2025-26 season.

Athletes of the Week: 
Men’s Throws Athlete of the Week:
George Myles (Gary, Ind.) Manchester University | Throws | Sophomore - George Myles competed in the weight throw and shot put this week. His 16.69m mark in the weight was the longest throw in the conference this week and the second best of Myles’s career. His shot put mark of 11.92m was the fourth best throw of his career.


Men’s Jumps Athlete of the Week:
D’San Ritchie (Burlington, Ky.) Mount St. Joseph University | Jumps | Sophomore - D’San Ritchie posted a victory with a HCAC-leading 13.50m in the triple jump, which was good for second place all-time in MSJ history. He also, had a PR in the long jump and placed sixth over the weekend.

Men's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week:
Andrew Shields (Bryan, Texas) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Jumps | Junior - Andrew Shields had two outstanding performances this week. He ran on Friday, placing fifth in the competitive Fairgrounds Invitational with a personal best time of 49.03 in the 400m run. This time is the third-best in the Rose-Hulman record book and is the fastest time in the conference this season. Shields then earned a second-place finish at the Keck Select Meet on Saturday with a time of 22.53 in the 200m dash. This marks the fastest time in the conference in the 200 so far this season.

Men's Distance Athlete of the Week:
Brenden Oden (New Carlisle, Ind.) Manchester University | Distance | Senior - Brenden Oden ran 4:24.02, a lifetime PR, in the mile at Trine over the weekend. His time is currently second in the conference and the fifth fastest in school history.

Throws
  • Jack Oker (St. Cloud, Minn.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Throws | Sophomore - Jack Oker led the throws team for Rose-Hulman at the Keck Select Meet with an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.93m.
Jumps
  • Gentry Oliver (Lafayette, Ind.) Manchester University | Jumps | Senior - Gentry Oliver jumped 6.89m in long jump for the win at the Mrs. G Invitational.
  • James Kaunas (Johnsburg, Ill.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Jumps | Senior - James Kaunas was the top jumper for Rose-Hulman at the Keck Select Meet. He placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.49m. He also claimed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.41m. His mark in the triple jump is a new season best and ranks second in the HCAC this season. His long jump mark is also a season best and ranks fourth in the conference.
Sprints/Hurdles
  • Brayden Wilkins (New Palestine, Ind.) Anderson University | Sprints | Sophomore - Brayden Wilkins reset his own school record at the Fairgrounds Invitation. In a primarily Division I field, he made the final and finished seventh overall (second in DIII) with a time of 6.98 in the 60m dash.
  • Chris Rene (Logansport, Ind.) Manchester University | Sprints | Junior - Chris Rene ran 8.65 seconds in the 60m hurdles. This time was a lifetime PR, and places him first in the HCAC. This time is also second in school history.
  • Kyle Evers Smith (Little Miami, Ohio) Mount St. Joseph University | Sprints | Senior - Kyle Evers Smith had the second fastest preliminary time with a 7.04 in the 60m dash. He finished eighth in the 60m final. Evers Smith was also runner-up in the 200m with a season best 22.98 time and powered Mount St. Joseph to an exciting victory in the 4x200m relay that now leads the HCAC.

  • Alejandro Clark (Hanford, Calif.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Distance | Junior - Alejandro Clark was a top finisher for Rose-Hulman at the Keck Select Meet. Clark placed ninth in the 800m run with a time of 1:58.82.
