LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. #1 seed Transylvania University Pioneers captured the Women’s Basketball title on Saturday in the 2026 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women’s Basketball Championship, beating No. #2 seed Franklin College 85-51. The Championship title is the eighth HCAC women's crown in a row for the Pioneers.
Transylvania continued their dominant season, improving their overall record to 24-4, while the Grizzlies fell in the Championship, finishing their 2025-26 campaign with an impressive 21-7 record under first year head coach Ashley Blanch. Transylvania claims the HCAC Automatic Qualification bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship, and will learn their fate of what's next on Monday, Mar. 2 at 2:30 pm during the selection show to air on www.ncaa.com.
