HCAC 2025-26 Men's Indoor Track & Field Notebook, Week 2

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field teams competed in week two of the 2025-26 season.

Athletes of the Week: 
Men’s Throws Athlete of the Week:
Tommy Wilmoth (Magnolia, Ky.) Hanover College | Throws | Junior - Tommy Wilmoth led Hanover at Bellarmine as the junior picked up where he left off a season ago, finishing second overall in the shot put with a toss of 16.72m. The mark lands him fourth among NCAA Division III student-athletes and is a new school record.

Men’s Jumps Athlete of the Week:
Gentry Oliver (Lafayette, Ind.) Manchester University | Jumps | Senior - Gentry Oliver jumped 7.14m in the long jump at the Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational winning the event. His PR is currently second in school history, leads the HCAC, ranks ninth in the Great Lakes Region, and 13th in the nation.

Men's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week:
Gentry Oliver (Lafayette, Ind.) Manchester University | Jumps | Senior - Gentry Oliver ran 6.98 in the 60m over the weekend.  His PR is a new Manchester school record, an HCAC-leading mark, and is currently ninth in the Great Lakes Region.

Men's Distance Athlete of the Week:
Gavin Byerly (Huntington, Ind.) Manchester University | Distance | Senior - Gavin Byerly ran 8:27.37 in the 3000m over the weekend. His time is a conference-leading mark, ranks first in the Great Lakes Region, and sits 15th in the nation.

Notable Performances:
Throws
  • Qi'Yam Simmons (Indianapolis, Ind.) Anderson University | Throws | Freshman - Qi'Yam Simmons threw 14.48m in the shot put to take third at Rose-Hulman, putting him second in the conference standings.
  • George Myles (Gary, Ind.) Manchester University | Throws | Sophomore - Geroge Myles threw a personal-best in the weight over the weekend. His toss of 17.08m is a conference leading mark, second in Manchester school history, fourth in the Great Lakes Region, and 24th in the nation.
  • Antoine Cooper (Indianapolis, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Throws | Senior - Antoine Cooper was the top thrower for Rose-Hulman as it claimed first place at the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener. Cooper placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 16.74m. His mark in the event currently ranks second in the HCAC so far this season.

Jumps
  • James Kaunas (Johnsburg, Ill.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Jumps | Senior - James Kaunas helped Rose-Hulman claim a first-place team finish at the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener. Kaunas earned an event win in the triple jump with a mark of 13.36m. He also finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.40m. His mark in the triple jump leads the conference and his mark in the long jump ranks third in the HCAC.

Sprints/Hurdles
  • Kaleb Eldridge (Anderson, Ind.) Anderson University | Sprints | Freshman - Kaleb Eldridge is fourth in the conference, breaking nine seconds in the 60m hurdles in his first collegiate meet.
  • Andrew Shields (Bryan, Texas) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Sprints | Junior - Andrew Shields helped Rose-Hulman claim a first-place finish at the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener. Shields finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 50.20. He was also a member of the 4x200m relay team that claimed a first-place finish with a time of 1:34.97. His time in the 400 is the fastest in the conference so far this season.

Distance
  • Kyle Corbin (Indianapolis, Ind.) Anderson University | Distance | Sophomore - Kyle Corbin started the season with a four-second PR in the 3000m and is currently ranked 12th in the conference.
  • Joshua Pohle (Osgood, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Distance | Senior - Joshua Pohle led the Rose-Hulman distance team with a first-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:27.73. This is the fastest time in the mile this season. The Fightin' Engineers claimed a first-place finish as a team in the Friday Night Spikes Larry Cole Opener.
