HCAC 2025 Football Notebook, Week 7

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) football teams competed in week seven of the 2025 season.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Eli Aston (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) Mount St. Joseph University | Wide Receiver | Sophomore - MSJ wideout Eli Aston was outstanding in the Lions win over Franklin. He caught six passes for 174 yards and 4 touchdowns. His four TD catches went for 11 yards, 21 yards, 43 yards and 64 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Kane Powell-Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio) Hanover College | Defensive Back | First Year - Powell-Smith was dominant in the Panthers' 76-7 win over Manchester. The freshman recorded an interception, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. He was a key member of a defense that held Manchester to under 30 yards of total offense in the first half.

Special Teams Player of the Week:
Brehdyn Clemons (Midland, Mich.) Anderson University | Defensive Back | Sophomore - Brehdyn Clemons made a massive contribution on special teams on Saturday. He recovered a fumble on a kickoff and returned it 14 yards to the 1-yard line, setting up an easy Anderson touchdown. Clemons then proceeded to block a punt and then recover the blocked punt. The play gave Anderson the ball on the Wilmington 24, which also led to an Anderson touchdown.

Offensive Players:
  • Albert Rabb (El Paso, Texas) Anderson University | Running Back | Sophomore - Albert Rabb rushed for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns against Wilmington on Saturday. He also added 11 receiving yards.
  • Tywuan Clark (Toledo, Ohio) Bluffton University | Quarterback | Sophomore - Clark went 12-of-17 for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 34 rushing yards on 11 attempts as Bluffton took down Rose-Hulman 30-27 in double overtime on the road Saturday. He laid it in Niegel Payne's hands from 25 yards out on Bluffton's first play of double overtime to walk it off on Saturday. It marked Bluffton's first win over Rose-Hulman since 2014.
  • Eian Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) Hanover College | Quarterback | Junior - Eian turned in a strong performance as the Panthers dominated Manchester 76-7. The junior played a half of football, throwing for 380 yards and four touchdowns. He was a key member of an offense that produced 11 touchdowns and 765 total yards of offense, which ranks second among all NCAA Division III.
  • Jay Smith (Evansville, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Running Back | Senior - The Fightin' Engineers lost to Bluffton 30-27, falling in double overtime. Jay Smith recorded 167 rushing yards on 32 carries, where he averaged 5.2 yards per carry.

Defensive Players:
  • Michael Loehmer (Winimac, Ind.) Franklin College | Safety | Junior - Loehmer stayed busy for the Griz defense at Mount St. Joseph, intercepting a pass and breaking up two others (including one on a fourth-down stop) while also making seven tackles.
  • Brady Blevins (Mount Juliet, Tenn.) Mount St. Joseph University | Cornerback | Sophomore - Sophomore cornerback Brady Blevins made a couple of huge plays in the Lions win over Franklin. He picked off the first pass of his career, racing the other direction 65-yards. A great play by the Franklin QB kept him out of the endzone. He also registered a pair of tackles and a pair of pass breakups.
  • Rudy Griffing (Plano, Texas) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Linebacker | Sophomore - The Fightin' Engineers lost to Bluffton 30-27, falling in double overtime. Rudy Griffing recorded a team-high 12 tackles (eight solo) and he added one tackle for loss.

Special Teams Players:
  • Brayden Wilkins (Foutaintown, Ind.) Franklin College | Running Back | Sophomore - Wilkins gave the Grizzlies a spark in the fourth quarter at Mount St. Joseph, answering a Lion touchdown by taking the ensuing kickoff back 95 yards for a score. It was the sophomore's first career TD return.
  • Clint Hearne (Madison, Ind.) Hanover College | Kicker | Senior - Hearne posted a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs after Hanover defeated Manchester 76-7. The senior was one of five kickers for the Panthers that competed in the contest.
  • Angel Estrada (Bremen, Ind.) Manchester University | Kicker | Junior - Angel Estrada was busy on Saturday as he punted 11 times for 426 yards. Estrada averaged 39.7 yards per punt with a long of 58.
  • Maxwell Spencer (Commercial Point, Ohio) Mount St. Joseph University | Kicker | First Year - Maxwell Spencer hit a career long 45 yard field goal in the Lions win over Franklin on Saturday, He was 7 for 7 on PATs and handled three kickoffs.
  • Trevor Saguto (Saint Charles, Mo.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Kicker | Senior - The Fightin' Engineers lost to Bluffton 30-27, falling in double overtime. Trevor Saguto attempted three punts for 130 yards, averaging 43.3 yards per punt. He recorded a long of 57, with one punt being downed inside the 20. Saguto would also go 4-5 on field goal attempts, converting kicks of 28, 28, and 31 yards in regulation. He would also add a 36-yard go-ahead field goal in double overtime to give Rose-Hulman the lead.
