HCAC Announces 2024 HCAC Softball All Conference and Special Awards

CARMEL, Ind. – Following the 2024 season, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the Softball major award winners and members of the All-Conference Teams.
 
Franklin College's Eriana Wagner (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned the Player of the Year title following a vote of league coaches.
 

Eriana leads the conference and nation in many significant statistical categories. This year, she broke the single season HR record (which was her own record that she broke last year) and currently leads the nation in home runs at 16.  She also currently leads the nation in total bases with 122. She is third in the nation for slugging percentage at .968. She is 29th in the nation for batting average at .484. She is 16th in the nation for OB% at .572. She is 13th in the nation for runs per game at 1.34. In conference games played this season , she leads the conference stats in average of .518; OPS of 1.804; 10 HRs in conference; slugging 1.179; walks with 15; hits with 29;  runs scored at 25; and an OB% of .750. Additionally, she leads the conference in conference play of total bases at 66 (she has 25 bases ahead of the person in second). She is in top 5 for stolen bases at 8 and RBIs at 20. She is a switch hitter with one HR in conference play from the left side. On the season, overall, she leads the conference with 16 HRS; a batting average of.484; OPS of 1.540; SLG of.968; OB% of .572; BB w/ 25; hits with 61; and runs scored with 51. Defensively she has 8 assists on the year in CF with 4 of those in conference play.

In the circle, Transylvania University’s Carlee Jeter (Lexington, Ky.) was named the 2024 HCAC Pitcher of the Year. Jeter's statline includes: being the only pitcher to win all of her games in the conference, most wins 1st (9), least losses, and second in saves with one. Jeter is second in hits allowed - 40 INNINGS+ (34) and first in runs allowed (7)and first with earned runs (5).

Fellow Pioneer first-year Dakota Burke (Louisville, Ky.) was voted as the 2024 HCAC Newcomer of the Year. The first year student-athlete boasted a .397 batting average, alongside 11 runs off of 23 hits. Burke also 10 RBIs. All of these stats culminated in .491 slugging percentage, .433 OB percentage.

Franklin College head coach Angie Bain led the Grizzlies back into the post season behind a 15-3 conference mark, earning the No. 2 seed. Her leadership garnered the recognition of her peers and the title of 2024 HCAC Softball Coach of the Year.
