KOKOMO, Ind. – Day 3 of the HCAC Softball Championship with a rematch set for Sunday morning to determine the conference tournament champion. No. 3 seed Transylvania fought back from the first loss of the day to win the elimination game and earned their spot in the championship round.
In the first game of the day, the Pioneers fell short to the #4 Seed Earlham Quakers, 10-0. The Quaker's bats were on fire during the matchup, with Emmerie Stump hitting a 2-run homerun during the 4th inning that kept the momentum in the Quakers favor.
The Pioneers loss put them in the 2nd game of the day, against #5 Bluffton to fight for a spot in the Championship round. The Beavers held it to a tight game through the top of the 3rd, until the Pioneer's bats got hot and scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the third. The #5 Beavers concluded their tournament run with a loss to the Pioneers, 10-6.
The Pioneers will play No. 4 seed Earlham, the tournament’s undefeated team, at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 10. The “in necessary” will follow if needed.
