In the first contest of the day, No. 3 Mount St. Joseph had to earn their way into the second game, bypassing a tough No. 2 seeded Franklin College squad. The Lions finished on top of a gritty 5-3 game.
In the second matchup, what would become the conference championship in the double elimination tournament, the Pioneers fell behind 2-1 but fought to come back, taking a lead at 5-2 in the sixth inning that they would never relinquish. Transylvania's hot hitting in the sixth inning, would give the Pioneers a 5-2 victory to clinch the championship.
The HCAC recognizes an All-Tournament Team and an MVP of the Softball Tournament. That team, selected by tournament officials, can be seen below.
The Pioneers earn the HCAC automatic qualification bid to the Division III NCAA Tournament. They will find out their draw in the tournament on Monday.
