Transylvania advances to the HCAC Championship with win over Bluffton, 82-55

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The No. 2 ranked Transylvania University women’s basketball team posted a dominant win over Bluffton University, 82-55 to advance to the 2023 HCAC Championship contest to face Hanover College.

The Pioneers improve to 26-0 on the season, while the Beavers finish their campaign with a 16-10 overall record.

·       Dasia Thornton- led the Pioneers with 21 points, 13 rebounds for the double-double, season high nine made field goals.

·       Laken Ball- 13 points, eight rebounds

·       Maddie Kellione- 13 points, four rebounds

·       Sydney Wright- seven points, three rebounds, season high three assists

·       Samantha Cornelison- season high eight points

·       Emilie Teall- season high four blocks and season high two steals

"I was proud of our collective team effort tonight,” said head coach Juli Fulks. “We were able to find gaps and openings against the zone on offense, while being solid on the defensive end.  Dasia was a key contributor on offense tonight giving us an extra boost scoring in the paint.

Saturday's HCAC Championship game will be played at 6 p.m. in the Beck Center, with the winner punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
