CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the Women’s Soccer All-Conference and marquee awards winners on Tuesday.
Hanover College’s
Beth Cook (Goshen, Ind.) earned the title of Offensive Player of the Year after a dominant fall that saw the sophomore earn five offensive athlete of the week titles. Cook registered an impressive 20 goals on the season, to go with six assists, dominating the league in the point category with 46. She fired off 89 shots in 2022, with 60 on goal, helping lead the Panthers to the regular season title, unbeaten in HCAC play.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology picked up a runner-up finish in the regular season to go with a pair of post-season accolades.
Grace Hobson (Hanover, Mich.) was voted as the Defensive Player of the Year, while teammate
Sarah Shoemaker (Chesterfield, Mo.) earned the inaugural Midfield Player of the Year award. Hobson helped lead a FIghtin’ Engineer defense that allowed the fewest goals this season with nine. The senior played in 1,393 minutes this season.
This is the first season the HCAC has recognized a Midfield Player of the Year, with Rose-Hulman’s Shoemaker snagging the honor. The graduate student worked both sides of the field for the Fightin’ Engineers, with over 927 minutes of play in 2022. She also added five goals and three assists for 13 points.
Isabella White (Lexington, Ky.) was named the 2022 HCAC Newcomer of the Year. The HCAC recognizes an individual in their first year of athletic participation who is a standout on the field. White was in the top-10 list of HCAC performers in league play in shots (43) and shots on goal (23) and was tied for second in the league in goals (eight) and sixth in points (20).
Amy Helliwell led the Fightin’ Engineers to the No. 2 seed following an unbeaten regular season, with a 6-0-3 mark. Helliwell was named the 2022 HCAC Coach of the Year in a vote of league coaches, after posting a 9-2-5 overall record.

Defensive Player of the Year – Grace Hobson, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
Midfield Player of the Year – Sarah Shoemaker, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
Newcomer of the Year – Isabella White, Transylvania University
Coach of the Year – Amy Helliwell, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology
The HCAC also honors an All-Conference First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention team. The members of those teams are selected by a vote of league coaches and are listed below.
