Transylvania Wins Third Straight HCAC Title

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Transylvania University picked up their third straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) women’s basketball tournament championship, with the Pioneers downing Hanover College, 69-65 on Wednesday.

The Championship contest was the culmination of a shorted 2021 regular season, followed by a 10-team random draw tournament that saw the rematch of the 2020 HCAC Championship in the finale.

Five student athletes were named to the All-Tournament team, including Maddie Haberthy from Mount St. Joseph University and Lexi Dellinger of Anderson University, who were eliminated in the semifinal round.

The Panthers placed Liz Tynan and Callie Wilder on the All-Tournament team for their performance, while Zenoviah Walker was named to the All-Tournament team for Transylvania and Madison Kellione was selected as the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
