Transy Wins Back-to-Back HCAC Titles

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Transylvania University claimed the 2020 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women's Basketball Championship crown on Sunday, defeating Hanover College, 91-61.

The Pioneers pick up their second straight title, bypassing Bluffton University on Saturday to advance to the Championship. The No. 2 seed Hanover cruised past Franklin College on Saturday to punch their ticket to the championship, but their bid came up short against a talent Transylvania squad.

The HCAC recognized a 2020 HCAC All-Tournament Team and a Tournament MVP. From Bluffton, Brianna Gillig was named to the team, joined by Jenna Cowart from Franklin. Hanover had two players earn their way onto the All-Tournament squad, in Savannah Courtney and Alexis Nall. For the Pioneers, Ashton Woodard was named to the team with Zenoviah Walker named the Tournament's Most Valuble Player.

The Pioneers earn the HCAC's automatic qualifying bid, and will advance to the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
