Jay Jones has served as Commissioner of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) since July 2019. In addition to his role with the HCAC, he teaches Sports Law as an Adjunct Professor at IU–Indianapolis.
Jones previously held multiple leadership positions at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), including Associate Director of Division III Governance and Director of Academic and Membership Affairs. His NCAA service spanned two tenures and included significant work supporting Division II and III committees. Between his roles at the NCAA, Jones spent four years as Commissioner of the Division II Sunshine State Conference.
Earlier in his career, Jones served as Director of Compliance at Saint Louis University and worked in the compliance office at the University of South Florida while completing graduate studies.
Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Tennessee, where he also worked in event management within the athletics department. He later received both his Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees from Stetson University in St. Petersburg, Florida.
