Hanover Claims School's 5th HCAC Outdoor Track & Field Title

RESULTS
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men and the Hanover Panthers women outdoor track and field teams won the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship held at Mount St. Joseph on April 26-27. The Engineers scored 240 points in the 20 events to hold off Hanover's 152 point effort to claim the school's 12th straight HCAC men's outdoor track title. The Hanover women earned the school's second outdoor track and field title in three years after tallying 179 total points to defeat Rose-ulman's 122 second place points.
The Rose-Hulman men had seven event winners during the two day championship. An eight-year old conference record fell on the men's side in the 1,500-meter run. Franklin's Clayton Brumfield claimed first place honors in the event with a new conference record time of 3:56.71.
Hanover finished second in the men's team standings with 152 points with Manchester placing third with 63 points. Earlham finished fourth with 60 points and was followed by Mount St. Joseph (51 points), Bluffton (49), Transylvania (49), Defiance (43), Anderson (34), and Franklin (28).
The Hanover women's team won four individual events on their way to the conference championship. Two conference records in the field events fell over the weekend for the women. Mount St. Joseph's Anna Schoster won the pole vault with a new height of 3.60 meters and Anderson's Emily Smatlak earned the javelin title with a throw of 39.72 meters.
Rose-Hulman finished second in the women's team standings with 122 points with Manchester placing third with 96 points. Earlham finished fourth with 94 points and was followed by Anderson (79 points), Transylvania (60), Mount St. Joseph (56), Bluffton (53), Franklin (28), and Defiance (12).
