Rose-Hulman Men Claim Ninth-Straight HCAC Track & Field Championship

RESULTS
BLUFFTON, OH – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team won the 2016 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship held at Bluffton University on April 29-30 in record fashion. The Engineers scored a meet record 350.33 points in the 20 events to hold off Anderson's 105 point effort to claim the school's ninth straight HCAC men's outdoor track title. The Manchester women's track team earned their third outdoor track and field title, holding off Hanover by 20.5 points.
The Rose-Hulman men had 12 event winners during the weekend. Sophomore Matt Hill (Connersville, Ind./H.S.) won a pair of events, claiming the title in the 5,000-meters and the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Anderson finished second in the men's team standings with 105 points with Hanover placing third with 73.33 points. Manchester finished fourth with 71.83 points and was followed by Bluffton (63 points), Franklin (41), Transylvania (33), Earlham (18), Mount St. Joseph (13.5), and Defiance (6).
The Manchester women's team won four events on its way to the conference championship. Junior Mariah Jordan (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) won the 1,500 meter and 10,000-meter runs to lead the Spartans. Junior Shay Aator (West Lafayette, Ind./H.S.) earned the title in the hammer throw for the second-straight year.
Two conference records fell on the women's side. Transylvania's Jordin Fender (Lexington, Ky./Dunbar) won the 100-meter hurdles in a record time of 14.57 and Defiance's Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay Co.) earned the 3,000-meter steeplechase crown with a record time of 11:09.96.
Hanover finished second in the women team standings with 128.5 points with Rose-Hulman placing third with 122 points. Franklin finished fourth with 81.5 points and was followed by Transylvania (65 points), Anderson (64.5), Defiance (57), Earlham (55), Bluffton (52), and Mount St. Joseph (5.5).
