HCAC 2025-26 Men's Basketball Notebook, Week 9

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men’s basketball teams competed in week nine of the 2025-26 season.

Athlete of the Week:
Hunter Barr (Hardinsburg, Ky.) Transylvania University | Forward | Junior - Hunter Barr led the way for Transylvania in a 73-71 loss at Hanover with 28 points and 16 rebounds.  He followed that performance with 17 points and 13 rebounds in Transylvania’s win over RHIT, giving him two double-doubles on the week.

Notable Performances:
  • Kenney Troutman (Indianapolis, Ind.) Anderson University | Guard | Senior - Kenney Troutman averaged 18.5 points as Anderson went 2-0 on the week. He contributed 14 points in Wednesday's home win against Bluffton and led the Ravens with 23 points in Saturday's road win against Mount St. Joseph. Troutman hit 7-of-14 shots from three-point range.
  • Jae'dyn Gist (Harlan, Ky.) Bluffton University | Guard | Junior - Jae’dyn Gist recorded his second double-double of the season, pouring in 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against Manchester, helping Bluffton secure two wins in conference play this past week. Gist was efficient at the free-throw line, going 9-for-10 and also added three assists in the win.
  • Andre Irvin (Lewis Center, Ohio) Bluffton University | Guard | Graduate - Andre Irvin bucketed 21.0 points per game on a blistering 16-for-23 performance shooting from the field, including 7-for-10 beyond-the-arc. He helped Bluffton to an 84-74 win over Franklin thanks to 20 points with three triples in just four attempts.
  • Cooper Matthews (Hamilton, Ohio) Franklin College | Guard | Junior - Cooper Matthews torched the nets for 27 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the floor and added a team-leading five assists to help lead the Grizzlies to an 89-82 road win over Manchester. He added 15 points and five more assists at Bluffton.
  • CJ Walls (Louisville, Ky.) Hanover College | Guard/Forward | Junior - CJ Walls helped lead Hanover to a 2-0 week, claiming wins over Transylvania and Earlham. The junior finished the week averaging 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. In the contest with the Pioneers, he netted 12 points including five rebounds and three assists. At Earlham, Walls tallied 20 points with seven rebounds.
  • Christian Torres (Lula, Ga.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Forward | Junior - Christian Torres was the standout for the Fightin' Engineers in their two conference losses last week. Torres nearly recorded a double-double in the loss to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, finishing the game with nine points and a team-high 11 rebounds. He followed that performance with nine points and six rebounds in the team's loss to Transylvania. On the week, he averaged 9.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
