HCAC 2025 Women's Soccer Notebook, Week 2

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) women’s soccer teams competed in week two of the 2025 season.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Lauren Barker (Columbus, Ind.) Franklin College | Forward | Junior - Barker tallied three goals to lead Franklin to its first win of the season, a 4-1 home triumph over Muskingum on Saturday. The junior first found the back of the net just 34 seconds into the match off a Madison Hill assist, and she added two more scores in the second half to help secure the victory.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Reagan Claus (Crown Point, Ind.) Manchester University | Goalkeeper | First Year - Claus started in goal for the Spartans and had 23 saves and 4 goals allowed across 2 games.
 
Notable Performances:
Offensive
  • Natalie Marcum (Noblesville, Ind.) Anderson University | Midfield | First Year - Natalie Marcum netted a goal against St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Anderson went 1-1 on the week.
  • Jessica Powell (Cincinnati, Ohio) Berea College | Midfield | Sophomore - Jessica Powell with 4 goals this week in a 2-0 week for our team.  This includes her first collegiate hat trick on Sunday at Wesleyan.
  • Katie Singleton (Hamilton, Ohio) Bluffton University | Forward | Sophomore - Singleton put all four of her attempts on frame with two finding a home in the back of the net as Bluffton continued its dominance of rival Defiance College with a 5-0 Labor Day shutout under the lights on Alumni Field Monday night.
  • Mallory Smith (Oxford, Ohio) Earlham College | Forward | Senior - Mallory Smith led the Quakers in a 5-0 win over Olivet with two goals on five shots. Smith finished the week with seven shots, and five on frame.
  • Kaleigh Schirmer (Amelia, Ohio) Hanover College | Forward | Sophomore - Schirmer led the Panthers at Spalding with the lone Panther goal. The sophomore recorded one goal on four shots, three of which landed on frame.
Defensive
  • Adrienne Weyers (Granger, Ind.) Anderson University | Goalkeeper | Senior - Adrienne Weyers saved 15-of-16 (93.8 percent) shots as Anderson went 1-1 on the week. She recorded a 5-save shutout against St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Weyers then saved 10-of-11 (90.9 percent) shots against Huntington.
  • Kennedy Bugg (Harrodsburg, Ky.) Berea College | Defender | First Year - Kennedy Bugg, who helped anchor the Mountaineer defense to 2 shutout victories this week.  The freshman logged big minutes in both contests and was a catalysts for team transitions to the offensive end.
  • Emma Patterson (Owensboro, Ky.) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Junior - Patterson led the Panthers in frame at Spalding. The senior played all 90 minutes recording three saves.
  • Carrie Stevens (Winchester, Ky.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper | Junior - In the 0-0 draw against Sewanee, Carrie Stevens stood tall in goal carding her first clean sheet of the year. Throughout the game, Stevens made a total of 7 saves to keep the game at 0-0.
