Anderson: Rubasky Promoted to Head Baseball Coach

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Anderson University athletics department and Athletic Director Marcie Taylor announced the promotion of Tyler Rubasky to head baseball coach.

Rubasky completed his first season on the Anderson University baseball coach staff last season as the top assistant coach. He served as the recruiting coordinator, offensive coach and catchers coach.

"We're pleased to elevate and name Tyler Rubasky as the head coach of AU baseball," Athletic Director Marcie Taylor said. "It's a blessing to have such a high-quality and capable leader like Coach Rubasky currently on the coaching staff.  The players respect his mentorship and ability to teach the game.  Coach Rubasky is a proven recruiter and we're eager to see the baseball program continue to thrive under his guidance."

In Rubasky's year as Anderson's top assistant coach, the Ravens captured a share of the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) regular-season title. Anderson finished 26-16 with a 15-7 conference record. The Ravens garnered seven all-HCAC selections, including six on the offensive end. Anderson also totaled four American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) all-region selections, including three offensive selections. Rubasky has mentored catcher Brendan Tabor, who was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Player of the Week and received ABCA all-region honors. As the recruiting coordinator, Rubasky contributed in putting together Anderson's 2025 recruiting class, which includes 15 freshmen and two transfers.

"I want to start by saying thank you to Marcie Taylor, Scott Cagnet and Dr. Moats for giving me the opportunity to be the head coach here at AU," Tyler Rubasky said. "I would also like to thank all of the coaches I've played for and worked for, and the players I've coached that have helped me prepare me for this next chapter in my coaching career. I'm very excited to be head coach here at AU. I've had the privilege of building relationships with our current and incoming guys this past year being in the assistant role that will allow an easy transition and the ability for us to get to work right away."

Rubasky began his coaching career at Waynesburg University as an assistant coach during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He then began a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Franklin College in 2019. After Franklin, Rubasky was selected as the top assistant coach at Davis & Elkins College for two years. He then served as the top assistant coach for Trine University for two years, beginning in 2023.

A Hazleton, Pa. native, Rubasky played for Waynesburg for four years as a catcher. He started in 49 career games and put together a .288 career batting average. Rubasky graduated from Waynesburg in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science, Wellness and Physiology. He went on to obtain his Masters of Science degree in Coaching and Sport Education from West Virginia University in 2018.

"AU is a great place for me because it allows me to continue to teach the game of baseball, build relationships with our roster and future Ravens, live out my faith unapologetically, and pour into these young men both on and off the field," Rubasky said. "I can't express enough how honored I am to be the next coach here at Anderson University! Go Ravens!"

Rubasky was elevated to the head coaching role after Mathew Bair accepted the position of Indiana Wesleyan University head baseball coach. In eight seasons as head coach, Bair led the Ravens to a share of the HCAC regular-season title and a career record of 173-133. The Ravens earned at least 20 wins and qualified for the HCAC Tournament in every full season of Coach Bair's tenure.

"AU is grateful for the Coach Bair's leadership of the baseball program the past eight years, culminating in an HCAC Championship in 2025," Taylor said. "As a respected alum, he's made a lasting impact on AU baseball."
