Transylvania Wins Sixth Straight HCAC Volleyball Tournament Title

Lexington, KY – Transylvania University came out victorious in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) 2024 Volleyball Championship on Sunday, defeating Manchester University, 3-1.  The win caps a perfect HCAC season with a 8-0 record in regular season conference play and the two decisive tournament victories.

In Sunday's championship match, the Pioneers got off to a commanding 2-0 lead, winning the first set 25-14 and the second set 25-15.  The Spartans, reprising their Saturday night semifinal magic, then fought to win the third set 25-23.  The Pioneers handled the fight well and secured the championship title with a set four win, 25-19.
 
The HCAC recognizes an All-Tournament team and a most outstanding player of the tournament.  Grace Ward (Edgewood, Kentucky) showed why she is a three-time HCAC Player of the Year and was named the tournament’s most outstanding player for her efforts throughout the tournament. Ward has now won the tournament's top individual honor four times in her career, having previously received the award in the Spring 2021, Fall 2021 and Fall 2022 seasons.  The other members of the 2024 HCAC Volleyball All-Tournament team include:

With the HCAC title, Transyvlania boasts an overall record of 22-7 and earns the conference’s automatic qualification bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship. The field for the championship will be announced Monday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m., with the opening rounds scheduled for Nov. 21-23, 2024 at a location to be announced by the NCAA.
