TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships wrapped up on Saturday, with Franklin College claiming the women’s title and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology taking the men’s.

Rose-Hulman captured the men's title with a score of 922, beating out Franklin College, who earned 747 points. Transylvania University finished third with 381, Anderson University placed fourth with 292 while Manchester University was fifth with 272 points and Hanover College placed sixth with 38 points and Bluffton University rounded out the scoring in seventh place with three points.
On the women's side, Franklin took the title with a dominating 817 points. Transylvania finished second with 702 points, while Rose-Hulman took third with 619. Anderson finished in fourth with 285. Manchester (223) and Hanover (157) rounded out the scoring, finishing in fifth and sixth respectively.
In the first event of the evening,
Cate Stauffer came up big in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, with a swim of 18:28.26 to win the event for Rose-Hulman. Grizzly
Caileigh McCafferty won the 200 Yard Backstroke, touching in a time of 2:09.22.
Sami MOnarch won the 100 Yard Freestyle, with a swim of 54.00 for Transylvania.
Regan Hendricks swam to a win in the 200 Yard Breaststroke for Franklin, with her time of 2:30.94 besting the competition.
Samantha Phillips snagged her second straight win in the 200 Yard Butterfly, touching in a time of 2:06.99, setting a new HCAC Championship record.
In the final event for the women, Franklin continued its dominance, taking the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay behind swims from
Kennedy Minter, Regan Hendricks, Samantha Phillips and
Caileigh McCafferty with a time of 3:35.65.
For the men, the first event of the night went to Rose-Hulman’s
Evan Sellers, who won the event for the second straight year, swimming a time of 16:03.72 in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, an NCAA B cut time and new meet record. In the 200 Yard Backstroke Transylvania’s
Kole Brannock won the event with a time of 1:50.67, setting a new HCAC Championship meet record. Rose-Hulman’s
Ryan Nikolic won the 100 Yard Freestyle, touching in a time of 46.44.
Vineet Ranade turned in a time of 2:04.55 in the 200 Yard Breaststroke to claim the event for Rose-Hulman. In the 200 Yard Butterfly,
Kosmo Wojack won his second straight title in the event, with his swim of 1:48.56 besting the competition for Franklin, posting a NCAA B’ cut time.
On the boards,
Gague Creech from Franklin secured the win in the 3 meter dive, with a score of 510.15.
In the final event of the night for the men, the 400 Yard Freestyle relay team of
Vineet Ranade, Nick Edwards, Christian Cseri and
Ryan Nikolic securing the victory for Rose-Hulman with a time of 3:04.41.
The marquee award winners were honored at the close of the meet, with Franklin's
Phillips named the 2023 HCAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet and
Vineet Ranade earning the title of 2023 HCAC Men's Swimmer of the Meet.
On the boards Franklin’s dynamic duo claimed the awards, with
Faith Jackson stepping up to take the women’s title and
Gague Creech claiming his fourth straight title, named the 2023 HCAC Diver of the Meet.
Another pair of first-years to earn honors were the Newcomer of the Year. From Franklin
Jyllian Antle took the honor of 2023 HCAC Women's Newcomer of the Year. Representing Transylvania,
Kole Brannock was named the 2023 HCAC Men's Newcomer of the Year.
Finally, the coach of the year was honored.
Andrew Hendricks from Franklin was named the both the men’s and women’s 2023 HCAC Coach of the Year.
