LEXINGTON, Ky. – The first day of the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Softball tournament wrapped on Thursday, with Mount St. Joseph University and Hanover College advancing unbeaten to the second day of competition.

In the first game of the day, No. 5 Hanover College survived No. 4 Franklin College, 4-1 and advanced to face No. 1 Transylvania in the third game of the day.
In game two, the No. 2 seed Mount St. Joseph bypassed the No. 3 seeded Defiance College 3-1, sending the Yellow Jackets to the losers bracket.
In the third game of the day, the No. 1 seed Transylvania faced off against No. 5 Hanover, with the Panthers securing the win in a high-scoring contest, 9-3 to advance in the winners bracket. The Pioneers will look to work out of the losers bracket tomorrow.
In Thursday’s final game, the No. 4 seed Franklin sent No. 3 seed Defiance home, handedly defeating the Yellow Jackets, 16-2.
Friday will feature three games, with the first contest showcasing No. 2 Mount St. Joseph vs No. 5 Hanover, with the first pitch slated for 11 a.m. The second game will feature No. 4 Franklin against No. 1 Transylvania at 1 p.m. In the final matchup of the day, the winner of the 1 p.m. game will face off against the loser of the 11 a.m. game.
