CARMEL, Ind. - The 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are set to be held Friday Feb. 25 through Saturday Feb. 26.

On the men’s side, Hanover College earned the No. 1 seed, following a 15-3 mark in conference play, where they claimed the 2021-22 regular season title. The Panthers advanced in the first round of the quarterfinals, bypassing the No. 8 seed Mount St. Joseph University, to earn the right to host the remainder of the conference tournament. No. 4 seeded Transylvania University downed the No. 5 seed, Anderson University, to earn a spot in the semi-finals against the hosts, with tip set for 5 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology punched their ticket to the semifinals, defeating the No. 7 seed Earlham College. Franklin College, the No. 6 seed upset the No. 3 team Defiance College, to secure their spot as the final team in the semifinals, facing off against the Fightin’ Engineers in the 7 p.m. contest.
In the women’s championship, Transylvania University ran the tables, finishing conference play with an unblemished 13-0 mark to secure the No. 1 seed, the regular season championship, and the hosting rights. The Pioneers convincingly defeated the No. 8 seed, Manchester University to earn their spot in the semifinals. In the No. 4/5 matchup, the higher seeded Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology survived, and advanced, with a win over Defiance College. Transylvania and Rose-Hulman will open the weekend’s championship in the 5 p.m. on Friday.
Facing off in the other end of the bracket, Bluffton University, who entered the post season as the No. 2 seed, also won, defeating the No. 7 seed Franklin College. Anderson University, the No. 6 seed, pulled the upset, downing the No. 3 seed Hanover College to advance to the semifinals in Lexington, Ky. The Beavers will face off against the Ravens in the 7 p.m. game on Friday.
Admission to all HCAC Championships is $10. Children aged 11 and under and students/faculty and staff with an HCAC institution ID will be admitted for free.
