HCAC 2021 Women’s Soccer Notebook, Week 4

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) women’s soccer teams competed in week four of the 2021 season.

Offensive Athlete of the Week:
Maggie Day (Sellersburg, Ind.) Hanover College | Forward | Senior - Day registered an impressive week for the Blue and Red as they dominated the competition to remain perfect on the season. The senior netted three goals on 13 shots with an assist. In the team's 5-0 victory over Asbury, Day tallied one goal on nine shots. In the 2-0 victory over Ohio Northern, the senior paced the attack scoring both goals for the Panthers.
Defensive Athlete of the Week:
Maggie Hinegardner (Fort Thomas, Ky.) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Sophomore - Hinegardner posted a perfect 2-0 week in frame, including two clean sheets, as the Panthers defeated Asbury 5-0 and Ohio Northern 2-0. In the win over ONU, the sophomore tallied an impressive eight saves through 90 minutes of action. She finished the week with a combined 10 saves.
 
Notable Performances:
  • Taylor Dye (Big Prairie, Ohio) Bluffton University | Forward | Junior - Dye led the Beavers to a 1-1 mark for the week with two goals. She tallied the only Bluffton goal in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Saint Mary's on Monday night and then netted the game winner in Bluffon's 2-0 shutout at Bethany on Saturday. She currently leads the Beavers with three goals this season which is tied for third in the HCAC.
  • Natalie Dillon (Rochester, N.Y.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Goalkeeper | Junior – Dillon recorded five saves and allowed just one goal against No. 3 ranked WashU, leading the Fightin' Engineer defensive effort in a narrow 1-0 loss to the unbeaten national power.
  • Emilie Yates (Lexington, Ky.) Transylvania University | Midfield | Senior –Yates scored two goals, earning her second brace of the season to secure the win for the Pioneers. Yates totaled four shots in the contests, all on goal, resulting in a 1.000 shot percentage. Yates’ brace also was collected in two minutes of game time, scoring in the 46th and 47th minute to give the Pioneers the game-winning goal.
  • Morgan Patton (Lexington, Ky.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper | Senior – Patton shined in her action during the 4-1 victory against Berea College, Transylvania’s lone match of the week to augment its unbeaten streak to four matches. The senior played the first half of the contest and surrendered zero goals while collecting two saves to earn a 1.000 save percentage and the win.
