GREENWOOD, IN - Franklin College led the HCAC contingent at the annual Franklin Invitational this past Saturday, placing first in the eight team event. The Grizzlies held off second place Earlham by 24 points, while Transylvania finished third.
Franklin's Hillary Cain (Rushville, Ind./H.S.) ran to a third place finish at the meet, posting a time of 20:05 on the 5K course. Cain was the top HCAC runner at the meet and earned HCAC Runner of the Week honors.
Earlham's Maddie Fega (Amherst, Mass./Regional) led the Quakers with a seventh place finish, while Transy's Olivia Schafer (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) finished sixth to lead the Pioneers.
Hanover earned the team title at the Asbury Invitational Saturday. The Panthers held off the hosts by 14 points to win the four team meet. Junior Claire Hinshaw (New Castle, Ind./H.S.) led the way for HC, posting a third place time of 21:05.9 on the 5K course.
The Manchester women finished third at the five team Manchester Hokum Karem Saturday. The Spartans finished behind IPFW and Indiana Tech and held off Anderson and Defiance in the standings.
Bluffton competed at the Bluffton Invitational Saturday morning. The Beavers finished fourth place in the four team event.
This weekend's schedule is highlighted by the Anderson, Defiance, and Hanover Invitationals. Defiance and Manchester will compete at Defiance, Anderson and Earlham will run at AU, while Hanover, Franklin, and Mount St. Joseph will run in southern Indiana.
