Women's Cross Country Report (Week 2) - Ravens Earn Title at AU Invite
GREENWOOD, IN - Anderson University earned the team title at the Anderson Invitational at Mounds State Park Saturday. The Ravens held off second place Trine by 21 points, while Earlham finished third.
Betsy Lowry (Yorktown, Ind./H.S.) led the Ravens with a second place finish in a time of 16:17. Janell Bender (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview) (4th, 16:28) and Heather Quinlan (Brookville, Ind./Franklin Co.) (5th, 16:39) were also in the top five for AU.
Earlham's Maddie Fega (Amherst, Mass./Regional) led the Quakers with a seventh place finish, posting a time of 16:41.
Hanover College finished third in the team standings at the Madison Kiwanis Hanover Invitational. The Panthers finished behind Otterbein and Wis.-Stevens Point in the standings, while Franklin earned a fifth place finish in the nine team field.
Defiance welcomed Manchester to campus for the Defiance Duals on Friday evening. The Spartans won the dual meet by a score of 20 to 43.
Defiance's Eme Miller (Portland, Ind./Jay Co.) won the meet with a time of 25:48.2, while Manchester's Mariah Jordan (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) finished second with a mark of 26:30.5.
Bluffton was also in action, running at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati. The Beavers finished eighth among the 10 competing NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA schools. Freshman Anna Hairston (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario) set a new school record in the 5K at the meet with a time of 19:37.
This weekend's Bluffton, Defiance and Manchester will compete at Calvin, while Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania will run at the University of Kentucky. Mount St. Joseph will hit the course on Friday evening at Notre Dame in the National Catholic Championships.
